Volunteer Information
1. How To Become A Member
Members of Hatzalah of Union County are all community volunteers. Members volunteer as either
First Responders or Dispatchers. First Responders are required to complete an intensive course of
study approved by the New Jersey State Department of Health and the National Registry of Emergency
Medical Technicians (NREMT), and must pass the National Registry Examination. As with all Hatzalah
organizations, members must be Shomrei Mitzvos, over the age of 18 years. Dispatchers may also
elect, but are not required to complete a similar course of study.

If your application is approved, Hatzalah of Union County assumes responsibility for the all costs
related to training and certification as an EMT. Upon successful completion of the course and passage
of the National Registry Examination, new members will be provided with all necessary equipment and
supplies.
If you are interested in volunteering your time in a capacity other than as a dispatcher or EMT, please
email us at so we can discuss other opportunities with you.
